College Cooking 101 Update: Shooting Locked
Long ago, I mentioned that I had a work in progress entitled College Cooking 101, which is to be a three-part web series about two Columbia students who organize their own cooking show. Well, things have been moving along on that front, and today I had the first official meeting about the project with my DP and we blocked out the outline of the first episode I sent him.
The show currently is planned as an uncripted, three-part series of ten minute videos for the internet. While the show is entirely unscripted, I’ve got some pretty detailed outlines from which we will be improvising (a la Curb Your Enthusiasm).
However, each step of the way, I’ve been debating whether or not to simply script it. Improvisation, while funny, may very well not be the funniest way to go about this. I’m writing a draft of the first episode now, and the script is running very long - leading me to believe that it would be roughly 15-20 minutes. That’s simply too long for the internet.
If I can cut it down, who knows. It’s very much in the air. We may simply work from the outline. We may work from a script. It’s still a mystery to me, and I’m the guy in charge. Yeesh.
Regardless, we are shooting this weekend. That’s locked. So, we should know definitively by Friday.
