Hollywood Report: Academy Awards to Get Sexier, Boringer

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Hugh Jackman, People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, will be the host of this year’s Academy Awards. When asked about the decision to hire Jackman, one producer said “We want the ceremony to be more fun.” Of course, the simplest way to do that for a program that generally runs over three hours due to long-winded speeches by actors would be to replace the comedian telling jokes with an actor making speeches.

The Academy has said this year they hope to go with a broadcast that will be “more straightforward and traditional.” They were also hoping to find a host who could make the ceremony more totally bad ass.
