Everyone Hates Killing People (Mostly)
This morning Afghanistan joined pretty much every other sane country on the planet in a pledge to stop using cluster-bombs. While over 90 nations signed the treaty to stop using the dangerous weaponry, not everyone seems down with saving innocent human lives. Among those against being against blowing civilians up: Russia, China, India, Pakistan, and yep, the United States. U.S. military officials defended the decision by saying that cluster bombs only effect small areas and are “often more humane than big ass bombs that destroy absolutely everything in their path. Because we’ve got those too.”

Rastafarian Sues Company for Not Being “Irie” Enough
A Rastafarian man who would not cut his hair due to “religious reasons” is suing a Boston area Jiffy Lube for discrimination. The man claims the company wasn’t down with his irie and asked him to cut his hair due to a company policy that totally would have given him bad juju. I always prefer someone giving me a jiffy lube to be well groomed, but that’s a personal preference. The Supreme Court decided that the case could be considered religious discrimination and wrongful termination. This is good news for the Oscar Mayer employee who was fired for his religious belief that it’s a sin to use toilet paper, or wash your hands.

Auto Workers Will No Longer Be Paid to Not Work on Autos
The United Auto Workers announced today that it will suspend a jobs bank program in order to help American automakers secure $34 billion in government loans. The job bank provides auto workers who are out of work with almost 95% of their salaries, and Congress criticized the automakers for paying workers who were not on the job. Unlike the Congress, which gets a lot done, as can be seen whenever you turn on C-SPAN and people are just milling around talking with one another.
